The Curriculum
Lessons include personal investigation and experience of businesses and the information gained is then used as the basis for their presentations, which can be in various forms. At present the subject is based in one of the newly refurbished computer rooms giving the pupils easy access to information and the availability of various media for presentation work.
The curriculum is complimented by a range of activities and visits to different businesses to allow students to experience the business environment.
Assessment
The students are given the opportunity to take a shared responsibility for their progress but targets are set to keep them on track
Students will receive two progress reports each year as the teacher will thoroughly assess the work of each unit, as it is completed, and award the students a grade for the completed work.
The curriculum enables the students to achieve a double award equivalent to two A*- C grades. There is no exam at the end of this BTEC course as work is continually assessed. All areas must be completed as it collectively amounts to the final pass grades.
Students comments!!!
I think that this course is quite good, and it represents the information well, so that it is easy to remember. It is also good because it does not set too much homework, except what is essential. This makes people willing to work in class. It also has reasonable deadlines for essays.
