We believe that students develop a greater understand of ICT when they are
using it to support research, solve problems or present work in the context
of another subject. Therefore, our model of teaching ICT is mainly across
the curriculum at KS3. As ICT is one of our specialist subjects, we have
been able to invest heavily in our ICT infrastructure to ensure that the
necessary resources and technical support staff are available within school
to deliver the KS3 ICT Programme of Study using this model.
During KS3 our objectives are:
|
To improve student’s ICT software skills |
- |
To consider the role that ICT plays in society
|
- |
To develop an understanding of suitability for purpose
|
These objectives have been mapped across our core and foundation subject's
schemes of work and are delivered during these lessons.
To complement our cross-curricular delivery, KS3 students are taken off
their normal timetables to receive discrete ICT input. This coincides with
other events that are happening around the school to support student's learning.
At KS4 all students take core ICT which provides them with the opportunity to gain a GCSE grade ‘B’ equivalent. Students also have the opportunity take ICT as an option which provides them with access to an additional higher grade GCSE equivalent if they make sufficient progress. During KS4 student’s skills are assessed by a combination of on-screen tests and a portfolio of work.
At KS4 students will study either 3 or 5 of the following units:
|
Integrated e-Document Production |
