Throughout Key stage 3, our students follow a programme of study designed to meet the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum.Students are given every opportunity to utilise all three skills of performing, composing and listening within each unit of study.

Throughout Key Stage 4, our students follow the AQA specification for Music. Students work both independently and in groups on listening, performance and composition tasks. The final exam is equally divided into 4 sections as follows:
- Composition of a piece of Music for a special event
- Performance of 2 pieces: One solo
One ensemble
- Integrated Assignment – A composition composed from a choice of briefs
Listening and Appraising paper – An examination based on excerpts taken from the 5 areas of study – Music for Film, Music for Dance, Orchestral Landmarks, Popular song since 1960 and Music for special occasions.
