Science is the field of study that attempts to describe and understand the nature of the universe. It is an integral part of modern culture stretching the imagination of young people and helps us to make complex things simple.

The objectives of the department are :

-
To provide you with a fascinating insight into contemporary science that is relevant and useful to you.
-
To prepare you for the GCSE science examinations in years 10 and 11.

Key Stage 3

The department has introduced “Framework Science” for KS 3 (Years 7, 8 & 9). This programme:

· Helps students to meet appropriate, challenging expectations

· Ensures paced progression from KS2 through KS3

· Encourages students' engagement with science

· Brings about a transformation of the teaching and learning experience

Key Stage 4

The emphasis of science at KS4 has changed to introduce the concept of “How Science Works.” This means not just learning theory but understanding the practical side of science and its relation to the world we live in. To facilitate this, the department has introduced 3 new courses:

· Core Science (year 10)

· Additional Science (year 11)

· Additional Applied Science (year 11)

Key Stage 3

GCSE Science:

- Science A (Multiple choice papers)

Covers the basics of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

 

 

GCSE Additional Applied Science.

Extended study of Biology, Chemistry & Physics.

 

GCSE Additional Applied Science.

The vocational option for a second science. Content covers Food, Forensic & Sport Science.
